How to Style Your Solid Wood Dresser

There is no substitute for quality. Making sure you get something that not only looks good but will function the way you need it to can be one of the biggest challenges of selecting bedroom furniture. When you purchase your furniture from Stuart David Home Furnishings you not only have a wide selection of quality bedroom furniture, you have a wide range of custom options for the piece that you pick.
Each bedroom collection sports a different style, ranging from traditional to modern. But the curves and trim details of each collection are only part of styling your dresser. You also get custom options like choosing the solid wood, finish, size, and hardware. Even changes to the wood or finish can drastically change the way a piece looks, turning something from rustic to transitional with a simple selection.
So whether you’ve made your selection or are still pondering all the possibilities, here are some other creative ways to style your dresser once it’s in your bedroom:

Leave the surface bare.
Sometimes the simplest design is the best design. The natural beauty of solid wood furniture is plain to see and depending on the style you’re going for, letting the wood speak for itself is all the styling you’ll need.

Add Height
Lamps are a great way to add height to a dresser. Yes a lamp lightens up the area it’s in but it also presents an opportunity to add to the style of your dresser. A taller lamp aesthetically looks better on a shorter dresser, while a shorter lamp would look better on a higher dresser. Choose different shapes, colors, and shades to help add to the over-all style. If it’s a particularly wide dresser, you could get away with a matching pair of lamps instead of just one.
Mirrors add height to your dresser and give the illusion of more space in the room. There’s a selection of mirrors for each Stuart David bedroom collection, some can be connected to the dresser while others can hang on the wall.
Vases are another great multi-use decorating item, they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors so chances are you’ll find something that fits your style. Choose just one or get a couple different sizes and arrange them in tiers. Things like fresh or faux flowers, decorative branches, sand, and glass beads work great to add variety and color to your dresser.

Make It Personal
Another way to style your solid wood dresser is to put meaningful personal items on it. Using the surface space to display pictures of loved ones, mementos, jewelry, or collections like shells collected during your favorite family vacation.

Utilize Space
You’ve got more space for decorating than just the surface of the dresser. Depending on the space around your dresser, you could utilize the space above and to the sides to add to the overall look of the dresser. Decorative clothing bins, chairs, etc are great items to go along the sides of your fine dresser. Whether you have a mirror above your dresser or not, decorative prints or pictures above your dresser can add a trendy look that meshes with almost any style.
Another key to utilizing space is actually not utilizing too much space. Less is more as the saying goes and the last thing you want is a messy looking dresser. The bigger the dresser, the more things you could decorate with, without cluttering the space.
