Quartersawn Oak

Quarter Sawn White Oak

At Stuart David, you can get White Oak two ways: Quartersawn or Rustic. Quartersawn Oak involves taking the log and quartering it length wise, then putting it up on its point and sawing boards along the axis. This provides straight, very tight striped grain lines and greater strength. White Quartersawn Oak will take a stain very well and is less porous than Red Oak, making it more rot and water resistant (though you should avoid getting liquid on the wood).
