Stockton Solid Wood Oak Furniture - American Made Office Furniture California

Stockton, the first California city name that wasn’t of Spanish or Native American origin, was founded in 1850. It was named after Commodore Robert F. Stockton, who was key in the capture of California in the Mexican-American War. Surrounded by rich farmland and miles of waterways known as the Delta, Stockton is the larger of California’s two inland sea ports, the second being in Sacramento. With such a beautiful city and surroundings it’s no wonder why movies like Cool Hand Luke, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and This Is Spinal Tap were shot here. Looking for something to do? Here are a few ideas to help you explore the city and surrounding areas:

You can take a self-guided tour of historical downtown Stockton. Discover the architecture, public art, shops, restaurants, and other points of interest along the delta at your own pace. You’ll find the link to the printable brochure and map at the bottom of the page.

Love the water? The Downtown Stockton Marina offers long term and guest docks, restrooms, and parking. The waterfront is also perfect for walking/jogging, watching ships come and go, and enjoying the public art.

Described by Sunset magazine as “one of the unsung gems of California,” the Haggin Museum is the destination for art and history. Located in the middle of Stockton’s Victory Park for the last 82 years, this beautiful three story brick building has more than 34,000 square feet of exhibit space featuring 19th and early 20th century American and European art. This is one diamond in the rough you shouldn’t miss!

For you racing fans, check the calendar and take a trip to Stockton 99 Speedway. Root for your favorite drivers on the oldest NASCAR track in the west as they take on the paved ¼ mile banked track.

Enjoy outdoor activities at the 180 acre Oak Grove Regional Park & Nature Center. Featuring trails for hiking and biking, playgrounds for children, disk golf, fishing, paddleboats, picnic areas, and more! Oak Grove Lake is 10 acres and stocked with seasonal catfish and trout, kids under 15 fish for free.

Enjoy a unique mix of history and entertainment at the Bob Hope (Fox) Theatre. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, this theatre was built in 1930 and continues to provide entertainment and culture for the city of Stockton. Live theatre performances, musicals, concerts, family events, classic cinema, and comedy offer a diverse array of entertainment options for all interests.
